Okay, okay... after a long hiatus, I'm trying to make a return to the blogosphere. And what better way to do it than with a meme? So I picked this one up over at luvinthemommyhood.

Cooking : lime marinated chicken, rice, corn pudding and rajas
Drinking : Talley Oliver's Vineyard chardonnay
Reading: Oh god... I hate to admit this one... New Moon (from The Twilight Saga)
Wanting: a BOB stroller
Looking: at Jay Leno
Playing: with these Martha Stewart Tissue Pom Poms (made some for this week's dinner party and I don't want to take them down!)
Wasting: time by watching television when I should be folding laundry...
Sewing: the baby quilt mentioned above.
Wishing: there were more hours in the day
Enjoying: my clean(ish) house!
Waiting: for my hubby to get home from work
Liking: these Cavallini papers
Wondering: when i'm going to find the time to finally finish folding the 3 loads of laundry piled up in my bedroom
Loving: these butterfly collages
Hoping: that it cools down soon (105 degrees today!)
Marvelling: at how fast Ash is growing!!
Needing: a new car
Smelling: corn pudding. Mmmmm...
Wearing: shorts and a tanktop (Forever 21, even though I'm 30...)
Following: politics. Closely.
Noticing: how much I miss my baby when he is sleeping!
Knowing: that he will wake up between 6:15 and 6:30 tomorrow morning
Thinking: of what Ash will be for Halloween... Yoda? Charlie Brown?
Bookmarking: babysteals.com
Opening: the newest issue of Mothering Magazine (and feeling a little guilty for weaning...)
Giggling: over this baby video.
Feeling: tired
More later... No, really, I mean it!

Mother's Day Recap
Well, I didn't end up making those cute little sachets for the grandmas. I ran out of time, like always, and changed my approach a bit.
My friend Adria makes these custom beautiful necklaces and bracelets, so I called her up and got them each little initial necklaces instead, A for Ashland. They are lovely, and seemed to be a hit with the grandmothers!
And for my birthday (yesterday), my parents gave me a Flip Camcorder! Hooray! Look for some video of the little tyke soon!

New Quilt!
I signed up yesterday for another class at my local quilt shop. Although I would love to work on my quilts independently, realistically I do much better in a class. Then I have set goals and assignments, and the quilt comes to fruition much faster. Otherwise, I just daydream and dilly-dally over patterns and fabrics and I don't do anything except think about quilts.
So this one is the Bento Box quilt, and class starts on Thursday. I started my fabric selection yesterday, purchased 11 fat quarters, and already I'm changing my color scheme. I guess this is okay, since I really do need to pad my fabric stash. I have such a difficult time finding fabrics I like at our local shops. It could be that I'm too picky, but they tend to have very limited selection of more modern prints. So I end up shopping around at several shops around the county, and then purchasing some online... no time for an online purchase for this quilt, so I'll have to rely on my local resources.
Originally I was going for greens and blues, then I transitioned to greens, yellows, and oranges. Then I came home, and my husband suggested that I make the quilt for our bed... Which would change the palette to browns, peaches, and oranges... Hm...
I love the Bento Box quilts by Amanda Jean and Swim Notes, so I'm planning on using white as my lighter colors as well.
I'll update on my progress as things move along. I hope there's progress. I hope I'm able to keep up with the class! This is my first quilt since Ash was born, so time is a bit more difficult to manage these days!

Mother's Day gifts
Mother's Day is around the corner. My first Mother's Day as a mom, and my mother's first Mother's Day as a grandmother.
I've been considering gift ideas for sometime. I thought about some of those handprint molds, but those just seem so antiquated.
I considered a quilt, but realistically, I just don't have the time to finish by next weekend.
And then today I saw these and thought they might just do the trick. Handmade, but not too time consuming...

I'll let you know how they turn out...

Fresh Start
A new space for everything. Not just yoga, not just food, not just current obsessions. A little bit of all of these things, and then some more...
Just my daily life. A new mom, a sometimes yoga practitioner, a foodie, a wine salesperson, a wannabe crafter.

Non-Napper
We have a great house for indoor plants. And a great house for indoor photography. But it's a horrible house for a napping baby. So many windows, so few curtains and blinds. Plenty of light, but not much napping as of late.
We just ordered some black-out blinds for the nursery. They can't come fast enough. But I guess we should build the crib too, so we have a place to put the non-napper.
